Basic Food Safety & Hygiene Level 1

Food Safety Level 1 basic food hygiene training, is designed for food handlers entering a food business, or in their first month working with food.
This course introduces participants to food safety and hygiene issues and is based on the criteria set down by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland for Food Safety Training Level 1.

Classroom or E-Learning options

Classroom Course Duration: 3 hours. Maximum Participants: 10.

E-Learning Course Duration: 45 minutes.

Training Objectives

On completion of this Food Safety Level 1 Course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of good personal hygiene in regard to food safety
  • Identify risks and hazards in food preparation
  • Recognise the main causes of food contamination
  • List the EU 14 food allergens that must indicated if they are used as ingredients
  • Demonstrate good personal hygiene

Who should attend:

  • Food handlers in their first month of employment.
  • Anyone who serves food.
  • Anyone who handles food.
  • Everyone working in a food-handling area.
  • All food handlers must be supervised and trained to a standard
    which covers their work activities.
