Fire Safety Training

This fire safety awareness course is essential for all employees, and includes fire extinguisher use, fire prevention and fire protection measures.
In Irish workplace legislation, any employee that may be required to use a fire extinguisher must be trained in fire extinguisher use.
In a fire emergency evacuation, everyone must know the procedures, and what role and what responsibilities they may have been assigned to carry out, during an emergency evacuation.

Course training options include:

  • Classroom – local training room or onsite.

Fire Safety at Home & in the Workplace

Fire Safety measures are essential in the workplace and at home. The vast majority of fires occur not in the workplace, but at home. The reason for this – in the workplace legislation is very strict on fire safety – mandatory evacuation drills, staff training and emergency plans are a requirement for every business.

Course Objectives

On completion of this training participants will be able to:

  • Explain what fire is and why we need training.
  • Describe the elements of the fire triangle and common hazards.
  • List the safeguards required to prevent fires from starting.
  • Identify fire hazards in the workplace and at home.
  • Understand the difference between fire prevention and fire protection.
  • Explain the extinguisher PASS system.
  • Describe the different classes of fire.
  • List the different types of extinguisher
  • Identify which extinguisher can be used on different classes of fire.
  • Demonstrate safe extinguisher use.

Controlling Fire Safety Risks

It is necessary to carry out a fire risk assessment before making an informed decision on what control measures need to be implemented. Employers must then take steps to avoid the risk of fire.
